Retention & deletion
After a subscription expires or ends, customer data can generally be downloaded for another 30 days. BambooHR then deletes the data unless legal requirements or additional terms prevent deletion. The 30-day download period does not apply if BambooHR terminates the subscription for nonpayment or certain breaches of contract.
BambooHR provides compliance documentation (e.g., SOC reports, DPA) via its Trust Center. HIPAA BA status is not indicated for this module.

BambooHR Time Tracking/Time & Attendance is an add-on to the core HRIS. Employees can clock in and out, use start/stop timers, edit and submit timesheets, and access time tracking on iOS and Android. Managers can review attendance, approve or reject time, and receive notifications.
BambooHR Marketplace also offers third-party time-tracking and scheduling apps. Their features, security controls, certifications, pricing, support, and implementation timelines vary by provider.
- Time and attendance: View who is in or out, identify lateness, and use schedules and attendance policies. Reminders can flag missing punches and overdue timesheets.
- Policies and approvals: Configure overtime, breaks, rounding, pay rules, and multi-level approvals. Change histories and audit trails support reviews of time edits and approvals.
- Leave and costing: Sync approved time off and balances with BambooHR Time Off so absences appear in timesheets. Categorize hours by job, department, location, or project for costing and reporting.
- Payroll and reporting: Export approved timesheets as CSV or connect to supported payroll systems, including BambooHR Payroll in the US and other supported regions. Reports can cover timesheets, labor costs, utilization, attendance, and compliance.
- Mobile and access controls: Employees and managers can use mobile apps for clocking and approvals. Location or capture features depend on the setup; role-based permissions align with BambooHR roles.
- Native security and compliance: BambooHR authentication options include SSO/SAML. Platform security includes HTTPS/TLS, encryption at rest, role-based access, and audit trails; BambooHR also references GDPR readiness and industry controls.
- Native implementation and support: Setup generally involves enabling the add-on and configuring pay periods, policies, and approval workflows. It can take days to a few weeks, depending on payroll integration and policy complexity. Support channels include a knowledge base, email or tickets, and chat or phone depending on the plan.
